The SILICON BMS was designed in 1989 with all the different specifications and tenders in mind. Silicon Engineering took all the available specifications at the time amd wrote software to accomodate all our customers
 
The numerous battery technologies (Plante, Tubular, Flat plate, High Antmony, Low Antmony, Vartabloc, Semi-Sealed, VRLA, lead calcium, Ni-Cad pocket, Sealed Ni-Cad available today are less tolerant of incorrect charger settings and operator abuse than in the past. These reflect in shorter service life and higher maintenance requirements with degrading of system reliability.
 
The SILICON BMS is a control and monitoring system for battery chargers to ensure the correct battery manufacturer's settings are applied to the battery charger. The SILICON BMS alarms when any condition is abnormal or out of specification. The SILICON BMS improves DC system reliability and optimises battery service life while reducing maintenance to a minimum. SILICON BMS is fully automatic and is ideal for remote or difficult to maintain battery sites or where battery expertise is limited.

Manufacturer approved settings of most stationary battery technologies are built-in.
Status of complete system displayed on LCD. DC & AC voltages, currents, timers, alarms.
Reconfigure a battery change in under 60 seconds - and know all settings are correct.
Charging protocol set for each battery type - auto-boost (Y/N), alarm values, timers etc.
Adjustment menu is password protected - no unauthorised tampering of settings.
Password may be customer changed.
Event Recorder stores 2000 events on a FIFO basis.(First-in First-out). Click here for alarm codes
You can check the results of battery test over past month. Up to 100 different types of events logged.
Plug-in universal module for all units 5Amp to 1000Amp, 24Volt to 220Volt DC.
One BMS can handle one battery and single or dual chargers.
Hardware equipped for remote communication and SCADA.
Suitable for driving most single & three phase analogue thyristor control cards and upgrades.
LCD display backlit for easy reading in poor light. (Auto turnoff after 10 min.)
Y2K compliant.
Mature software (approx 1000 in service since 1989). Older units are software upgradable.

Every alarm you could wish for is already included as standard. (Up to 21 alarms)
Alarms displayed locally on LCD, remote isolated C/O relays, audio beeper and RS232.
Intelligent alarm analysis. BMS decides whether Major (come NOW) or Minor.
Alarms digitally set for alarm value and reset value.(eg. Mains fail set=180 Reset=198V)
BMS logic stops load test during mains failure or after test circuit failure.
Earth fault alarm indicates polarity and value of leakage impedance to earth.
Boost timer override & load test fail alarms are latched until manual reset.
Alarm settings may be customer adjusted (with password access).
Alarm relay adjustable operating time delay (default 30 seconds).
Local LED indication for non-skilled staff warning.
Keypad testing facility of alarm relays - fast & safe.

Self test on power up.
Integrated watchdog timer to prevent system latchup.
Battery automatic periodic load test by turning off the charger & applying a dummy load.
Load test circuit components are self tested. Any internal fault is alarmed.
Intelligent application of extra load in sites with high standing loads.
Automatic return to Float from Boost in the shortest possible time - extend battery life.
Manual lamp test.
